I would like to talk about the medieval history of Poland, I have some very important (to me) questions about it and I would be very interested to hear your thoughts about it. By 'your', I obviously mean anyone who is kind enough to read this :) .

First, however, I would like to make a quick update about Thessa, the injured dog who was hit by a speeding car and who recovered thanks to the generous financial assistance of many members of DA community (together, Thessa received more than whooping 500 L which is just amazing). So, I am very happy to say that Thessa is doing great! She loves historical sites, rivers, lakes and farm animals – whenever she sees water she jumps for a swim and whenever she sees a cow or a donkey she gets extremely happy and starts running around wagging her tail :) . Just in case you are interested, here are some photos from our trips this year.

Here you can see me with Thessa after she won (hurrah!!!) a ball fetching competition in Warsaw - renown and honour is ours forever!

About medieval Poland, my post-doc application for an academic project investigating multiculturalism in the crusader states was not successful but fortunately, I managed to find a job at the Museum of Polish History. This museum is not open yet, it will be opened in 2019 and I am responsible for coordinating the works and writing the scenario for the gallery presenting the medieval history of Poland. My question therefore is, if you would be visiting a museum about Polish History, what would your primary expectations be? For example, what would be more interesting to you: military history and major battles, economic history and medieval industry, position of women, sexual or religious minorities, changes of climate and fauna and flora or Polish medieval art and architecture?  I would be grateful for any suggestions!

Also, please let me know what type of exhibits or interactive panels would be most interesting to you? Maybe you visited some museum during your trips or in your hometown and you remember that one of the solutions there seemed particularly memorable/exiting? Does it involve touching exhibits or does it involve other senses like smell or hearing? Please let me know, I would like to make this exhibition as interesting and enjoyable as possible and, right now I can suggest new solutions or ideas and there is a chance my boss will accept them!

For starters, I will share with you two of my ideas – I can’t give too many details as this is work in progress but my plan is to include information about medieval theatre, we will make copies of original, Gothic statues that are animated – that is which have movable legs, arms and for example head and we will show how these sculptures were animated in theatrical plays and liturgy. What do you think? Also, my plan is to allow visitors to touch copies of medieval clothing to see what is the difference between shoes made of cow hides or pig hides. As I said, I would appreciate any comments and suggestions! dashinvaine  Gambargin  joolita  Lormet-Images charcoalfeather akitku NausetSouth Azul-din LadyMarg pawelotti lostknightkg ahappierlife Leopold002 Hansmar Eldr-Fire artamusica HelevornArt Pajunen newcastlemale woodsman2b Syltorian JezMiller mrija Irondoors estachos calimer00 ahotko Searleit peterpateman mariustipa  anyone?

Awww, sorry that your application wasn't successful (I for one would find projects about anything having to do with the Crusader States absolutely fascinating. In fact, I'm writing a paper in one of my classes about the defensive structures and institutions of the Kingdom of Jerusalem right now! :D). But let me give you my congratulations on getting a job working on and coordinating such an awesome project! That certainly seems right up your alley! :D

It seems like you've already gotten a lot of feedback, but I'll add my own two cents into the conversation because THIS IS JUST TOO COOL.

I know I really find it helpful to have information given in a historical context, something like going by a chronological or dynastic approach, as opposed to a purely thematic one. I don't know what the scope of your project is (either in the historical time frame you are working within or with the actual amount of space you have to work with in the museum), but if you're going to be presenting a lot of military history and major battles I think the political context of those battles, who was reigning when, and the various political struggles that were happening in other countries would be immensely helpful. I think with other things that changed somewhat less, like industry or economics and agriculture, that could go by a more thematic arrangement. Also, is the target audience of the Museum just the general person, or does it focus heavily on children and families? If the focus is more for families and children to be introduced to history, then I think the idea of having more interactive components is great!
